Sheado Honey Love Hair Milk + Liquid Gold Hair Butter Review ( and Giveaway!)

As many of you already know from my Instagram pictures, last year around this time, I was just returning from my travels abroad. Having spent over three months in Germany and Holland, the few natural hair products that I’d brought with me quickly ran out, so I had a bit of fun trying whatever new stuff I could find on the shelves.Needless to say, most of the products in Europe weren’t tailored to my curly, kinky (and increasingly dry) afro. Mainstream stores stocked shampoos and conditioners not meant for African tresses, and specialty shops with products I was familiar with were über expensive. I was beginning to think I’d have to depend on my bottles of sunflower and olive oil to get me by until I returned to The States.

But, then…. Twitter came to my rescue! A chance online conversation with natural hair enthusiast and entrepreneur Beryl of AfroCandy Sweets led to an invitation to hang out in Rotterdam, Netherlands that I couldn’t pass up. Before I knew it, I was on a train headed south from Den Helder to meet some of the coolest folks ever!

Rotterdam was a blast! Thanks to Beryl, I met lots of talented young artist/ entrepreneurs of color and had great conversations on everything from politics to fashion and more. I went to an entrepreneur festival, had incredible coffee, attended a few natural hair workshops, and generally was in awe of how many young professionals were living their dreams out in The Netherlands. But one of the best parts, by far, was finding an amazing new product for my natural hair!

Dominique Snip is the creator of the Sheado line of natural hair products and one of of the fabulous ladies I met on my trip. First, let me tell you about the Honey Love Hair Milk. The name of this product is spot on because, not only did my love this stuff, but it left my curls feeling as smooth as honey. It’s a light, creamy hair milk containing shea butter, avocado oil, castor oil, and aloe vera that moisturizes your hair to the core. I’ve used it as a leave-in conditioner, detangler, and a refresher for a second-day twistout. Every time, my hair was in heaven!

As if the Honey Love Hair Milk wasn’t enough, the Liquid Gold Hair Butter is the pièce de résistance! To be perfectly honest, I still have half of my original bottle from a year ago, not because I didn’t love it, but because I’ve hoarded it like a crazy person for “special occasions.” Yeah, it’s that good. Shea butter, coconut oil, apricot kernel oil and mango butter take your dry, coarse curls from drab to fab in this luxurious mix. My hair was moisturized, silky, and shiny after using just a bit of this product – and my hair usually drinks up product like a kinky sponge.
